I don't find broccoli juice a problem when I've got some apple and carrot with it but it may not be good while having treatment that makes you feel so sick. The lemongrass tea may be more suitable, it does sound very refreshing but I do like to let people know what I've found and then they can decide for themselves what they want to do/use.
Apparently broccoli can also help make hardened arteries more flexible again, something else I read in a paper. |

one of the most heartbreaking i remember was gloria hunnifords daughter who had ( i think) breast cancer that had spread. she gave up conventional therapy and moved abroad for one of the "natural" wonder cures.
Mike's cousin Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer around the same time as Caron Keating and was heavily influenced by her story. She (Karen) refused all chemo and went the natural route spending somewhere in the region of £40,000 to travel to some clinic in Mexico. 40 grand for two weeks worth of coffee enemas, shark cartilage treatment, peach kernels, oxygen therapy (basically deep breathing excercises, because cancer cells are killed by high concentrations of oxygen doncha know?). She spent fortunes on organic everything afterwards as well -not just food but shampoo, moisturisers, cleaning products -everything in the house had to be organic.
She died 5 years after diagnosis with secondaries everywhere, ironically a couple of months after my friend Cath who went the opposite route and for five years had every type of chemo they could offer her including Herceptin. Cath found her lump but left it for months because her daughter had leukaemia at the time and was having a bone marrow transplant. She put all her energies into saving her daughter (who is now fit and well 10 years on) whilst her own health took a back seat, so the delay in seeking treatment was probably what did for her in the end.
I wouldn't know what to do if it ever happened to me -probably bit of both as you say Jeannie. From my second-hand experience complementary therapies should be just that -in addition to what the poor old NHS can offer, not instead.
Wishing Tan's friend the best of luck with her treatment. |

update on sarah..
she went through a really bad spot when they thought she might not make it but corner has turned and tho its early days its looking alot more positive than first thought. She could have come home recently bar an infection - too easy when you're on chemo and far to serious to leave hosp but the fact that barring that she would have been home really heartened the family and sarah. she and daniel and now looking to the future and what to do financially ( she was a childminder and he's self employed but of course thats out of the window for a while with two young boys and a 5 month old baby - she's not going to be able to cope with them for a while) Its been my job to sort out the finance info for them on web. Tan always says " mum'll do that for you" and actually its great to be useful, to have something I CAN do instead of always being the recipient - i find stuff fairly easy to find and weed out on web but for many its a minefield of true and false info and confusing - so i get to sort the real from the dross and forward it on - and the more i do it the more i get used to it so its better each time. |

Oh that is good news indeed Jeannie, I really hope she goes from strength to strength. I have a similar thing with problems the kids have, and have become quite good at getting justise done when goods have been faulty, and you get the retailer refusing to refund, or pay for what they had agreed to. ie insurance company. I think its the older head, and being on the outside, gives you a calmer approach, and can see more clearly.

Sending best wishes for her recovery
That's quite a talent you have Jeannie, one less thing for them to worry about. |
