Yep, I'm finding it f-ing hilarious too, thanks.

It's not that painful, but the muscle has gone into spasm so I can't do anything that involves carrying/lifting/turning/standing up/walking.
Frustrating, and a bit embarrassing going out in public.

I love her as Petronella in "dinner ladies" she's a terrific actress.
poor you Annette - backs are a b*gger - you don't know there's so many little joints til you feel them creak one by one. and everytime you move your foot or hand it hurts your back weird isn't it. I looked like that waitress but sitting yesterday - was trying to finish laying a path that sarah almost done but last 4 or so slabs were'nt donw cos we couldn't find any.. poked round garden and found some but feel as she's now 20 weeks pregnant leaning over to do them will not be comfortable so thought i could do it. her bit looks great, nice and level and even, mine... well the slabs are down thats best i can say. its sooo hard to get them any kind of level. its just a cross over a large flower bed so that i can get to each section for wweeding and planting ( and hopefuly cutting flowers if they come up...) but i had trouble digging out the siol bending from the scooter then trying to pull the slabs round. stupidly i'd also took up some annula seedlings from polytunnel to plant out when it was done so even though i was looking like someone of 90 going ah oh ow ..i had to set them in so they didn't die. came in just as Linda got here " what on earth have you been doing?" she said.. errr pth laying she had a look and couldn't stop laughing - it really is that bad.

Kos, haven't they given you crutches to keep weight off that foot? with a stick you'll still be using it and though painkillers help with pain they don't mean its ok to put weight on it? I'd borrow some if you can, will help it heal quicker. Jay did more damage hobbling round first couple of days when he didn't believe it was anything more than a sprain but once he got the crutches he was much better and his healed enough to have plaster off after about 3 weeks

Annette...you have my sympathy....I feel your pain....really...I do
...but it does get better....the trick is to balance the right amount of rest with the right amount of gentle mobilising....and adequate analgesia. Take it easy Hun

it was only a few smallish slabs ros i hate to be beaten by the body ( though it pays me back)- looks bloody awful - i'll have to snap it and show you just how bad it is ...but... it does mean i can reach that bit of garden from the scooter, so was worth doing. I guess time will flatten the slabs a bit anyway.

backs - i remember my assistant at work ( my mon breakfast friend sylvie)used to get probs with her back 20 years ago and then it was rest rest rest - and she was stuck for ages and bored off her head. i think the current rest and gentle mobilising is much more effective becuase when she was allowed to move about she had probs becuase her muscles had weakened - doesn't take long to get the jelly legs as anyone whose been in bed for a couple of days will know. Hope yours will get better soon Annette - listen to Ros - she's nurse and back expert.
has anyone heard from Lindi - she was very poorly earlier in week, saw pics on FB but not seen/heard anything since

Thanks, I did and it has.
The real trick for me has been hot water bottles every evening and during the night -worked wonders.

I even did a bit of gentle exercise yesterday- decorating again (this time no ceilings!) and felt much better for all the stretching.

Jeannie, well I was sent home from A&E the first day without crutches/stick at all and had to go back the next day cos i couldnt manage at all and I live up 4 flights of stairs!! I got the stick and was told if that wasnt sufficient i could get crutches. i will wait till my appointment at the fracture clinic on tuesday and see what they think cos it is still sore to put my weight on it...

sarah sniggered at my path today we (she)set outthe sweet peas and i spread manure on what will be the new veg area in the ochard - old one too shady when the giant chesnut leafs up so its for roots and early potatoes and winter veg like cabbages. the plan for new beds is to cover them with membrane and plant through - easy with no weeds i hope! done two beds ready for planting - 3 more to do but as is always the way the trailer has a flat tyre, didn't notice til i'ddone the first load - machines and i have a love hate relationship - last week i broke - again- the belt on the tractor mowing the docks in muskas field...bloody things.
my strawberries are looking good with lots of little green berries.

We won a strawberry planter thing last week at a craft fair and gave it to the lady next door for her grandchildren. It turned out to be a pack of two so the children want her to compete with them to grow the best strawberries.
I'm going to have a sunflower competition with them in our garden, it's nice to see children taking an interest in gardening

i used to get my kids to help in garden but none of them have a real interest though tan is slowly getting there via james who loves gardens and food growing which most parents get interested in at some point I think. she has a problem with the concept of remebering to Water them after they've been planted - seems to think they'll grow anyway. jay wants some herbs, lettuce and tomatoes for his balcony - he's done that before in other flat and worked well. my breakfast pal Sylvie has one of her 6 grandchildren who loves growing things and i always give her a tomato plant, some herbs and salads, and a runner bean and a sweetcorn plant. they're Ryans and he looks after them in pots religiously.

Aw, I wished mine had like doing things like that when they were young but they had no interest. Shame really as it was my father's and grandfathers profession but now that nicola has a house of her own with quite a big garden she's planting a wild meadow area and vegetables & herbs in the rest. Her partner has a birthday this week and I've sent 4 elderflower shrubs for him

we get them popping up like weeds -every year i say i'll make elder berry wine but...well, maybe this year.
If they want any trees lorna we've oak, chesnut, beech, sycamore, field maple, hawthorn, laurle, hollies and a few horse chesnuts..they seed all over the graden and i have to keep pulling them up which - aprat from the sycamores cos they come up like a forest - i feel bad doing but you can only have so many trees in a garden. I'll be happy to send her some - it'll ease my consicince about destroying so many
