Well done Judie! Yes, you're so right, a boost to the self esteem does no harm at all!
I see Peter has had some excellent news too

what will today bring? well, i'm waiting for some barley straw ( ebay again...) for my pond - helps cut down the blanket weed and last year was first time we tried it and most successful and cheapest! Also some paintings Steve has framed - really looking forward to seeing those!
Typical though - 3 of them i've had framed for a local exhibition i was asked if i'd like to take part in - abstract and semi abstract - that was last Oct and i said yes, not heard anything back from the organiser since though...and its starts on mon so we should be setting up this weekend. i did email her last week, think i'll have to d it again cos I'll be cross if i've had work framed and am not in and feel that as i've not heard that could be likely
what else? well, if its fine i'd like to do a bit of gardening/seed sowing maybeBUT i must catch up on book reviews - last 3 weeks i've had about 8 arrive so need to do some reading too. there's one came yestreday on airbrushing - something i know very little on - and another on cartooning - something else new to me - so those are going to take some time to write up.

I have had another lovely surprise today, one of my paintings I took in for selection process was accepted for a Spring exhibition in the hospital.
Also the auction for the stars appeal caring4kids, again its for the hospital has already reached the staggering sum of £11910, and the auction isn't until tomorrow.
At this rate they will exceed last years totals, amazing how generous people are being.
But its for a very worthwhile cause children and babies to have an A&E and places for parents to stay with their children too.

well done Judie - btw have emailed steve's address to you. got mine back yesterday and the frames make such a difference to them. still waiting - somehow i think i'm not in the exhibition - which is irritating cos i needent have got them framed yet but...now they're done i'm glad cos they look soo much better.
today? well, idid lots of "admin" stuff yesterday - ringing the holiday medical insurance people to see if i needed to let them know im an amputee
"hi, i'm an amputee wheelchair user - I had cancer and wondered how much you need to know?" (cos they'll find a get out of you don't tell them - but how do you know what you need to tell them..)
"right, i'll just take some details. Why did you lose your leg?" "cancer - clear cell sarcoma"
"cancer, hmnn .. and what type?"
"clear cell sarcoma - thats it - just as it sounds. its a rare cancer, probably won't be on your list- " ( never is on a list - I could have said Clear Cell Sarcoma of Tendons and Aponeuroses, or Malignant melanoma of soft parts but didn't think he'd be any wiser)"ok...and have you seen a consultant in relation to this in the past year? and do you smoke, have you ever smoked? and do you take medication?"
" no - no and yes, painkillers but not for the amputation but for secondary probs from the wheelchair use"
"ok - i'll just have to check this - you'll be on hold for a while.....right, we can cover you but not for anything to do with the cancer I'm afraid"
"I'm only going for two days - i doubt if the cancer is going to make itself found then!" i wasn't expecting anything like that to be covered anyway - experience tells you that once you've had cancer insurance people treat you like you are on the way out at any time...

and i make my hair app for sat, made muska dental check app, rang for a price on my car - motability one due to renew in may but as charles and i can drive so little - done just over 9000 in the past three years..seems pointless spending the 50 a week on a new car but i'd still like A car just for things like meeting friends locally etc - we're not on a bus/train route - not that rural buses can take wheelchairs anyway so i feel we need a car, just not a brand new one. did some work on my veg plot ( only a bit, changing the beds to suit where the light falls. last year the stuff at the back was in too much shade and now i have a scooter with reverse, not like the trike - i can have just one pathway instead of three so more space availabl, got some sticks from the woods, did some Muksa grooming with her Furmninator - they are great, make it easy though i still waer an awful lots of it - memo: do not groom a horse while wearing a fleece or jumper - charles reckons this time of year our tumble drier is full of horse hair
you'll note that that busy day did not include my stated book review of the dragons one i need to crack on with. its a fab book, just that its so full of info - for Artists not beginners for a change not full of that "these paints, brushes, paper and apply like this-" and i'm not sure where to start. I keep putting it off but Must crack on and do it today! but the sun is shining - i want to get on with more garden stuff and more grooming and my friend coming to play horses pm.....see- its easy to make yourself too busy.

what has been great about this weather is that I feel soo much better - still get tired but can do that bit more compared to say two weeks ago so I feel that finally the swineflu after effects are going. Geneva soon too!! got my orders to bring nback swiis choc for a friend...have to email the pr co again to see if there's any last minute stuff like the taxis she said she was arranging but I haven't heard back - its been great to win a hol but when my friend won one years ago she didn't have to keep chasing up all details so i think this PR Co could maybe do a bit of pr on their own staff....

I was just reading about Ryszard's exhibition (photograph section) and had a browse at his website too on absolutearts. Beautiful work.
I was surprised by how much his photograph entitled 'Dripping Seaweek' was akin to Cherie Sullivans latest knitted work.
Made me smile!

i write all my "to do " things on my fridge with a white board marker ..its a big fridge and it was pricking my conscience seeing so much stuff all over it...so every now and then i have a "catch up" session and try and clear a few - i'm a real procrastinator - if it can wait til later, tomorrow, next week ...it does. But then its always on my mind as a job to be done. when they involve telephone they wait til last min - I hate using phone - turn into some mindless gibbering nut once i pick it up...
does feel good when i've done a few jobs though. down to only a few things now, find out about blue badge and congestion charge for next week airport, write letter(s) for chris re the kids school and medical stuff being sent to him, write letter for friend whose elderly mum paid for a caravan on a local site but hardly uses it - they wrote to her offering to buy it back in Jan and giving a price ( about half what she paid 18 months ago..)- she agreed but despite phoning daily they have put off paying her - now they are saying they've sold it on but haven't yet received the money. well in the letter They were buying it - not acting as agent in selling it so its read through the papers and draw up a letter - pay up or see you in court...things like that make me furious - poor woman is in her eighties, its just not fair. what else? couple of things for next grocery order and a sign for Muska field ( this horse is microchipped) there's always a danger of horse thefts - none round here recently but there has been some tack thefts so i thought a big laminated sign might act as a deterrent.

Hard keeping track if it's not all written down, I'm so forgetful these days.
I have a notice board for the really urgent things, a calendar in the office, in bedroom and in the kitchen then a small diary in my bag, a medium sized one open on the desk and a large one with all the associated paperwork for each day.
In the medium diary I write a list of what's happening, what's to do and what's to buy and anything that isn't crossed off at the end of the day is transferred to the next day

I have to live like this because there are bookings into 2011, all travel maps and things with them, Robs away a lot so I need his movements too for when people phone to book us etc.. or we have exhibitions and then there are our day jobs!
I have just sent off our resignations as East Riding Artists (ERA) secretary because we simply do not have time to do the job justice for another year. AGM in April we step down but Rob will remain on the committee, I'm resigning that too.

the radio auction raised a staggering sum of £18,028 for the Stars Appeal caring4kids
they thought they did well last year with £1200.00 but this was terrific

my god judie - thats incredible very well done to everybody.
I'm doing a (commission) painting for auction in may - i'll paint what they want basically... its for a friend of my daughter - she's got 2 lovely boys about beth and daz age and they used ( the kids) to be at school together. her last child, a daughter now 9 months old has an incurable disorder which causes her to ( among other things) have around 50 fits a day so her parents have to watch her 24 hours a day - a real strain. she can have a brain op but though it Should cure or at least lessen the fits it will permanently paralyse her left arm but that is weak already so they are going for it and fund-raising hard. what a choice to have but if she continues with the fits sooner or later they wil cause other damage and are likely to get worse. I said they had a hard decision but I think - the right one.

Spit - looks like there was no rush for those pics after all - the woman STILL hasn't replied to emails tho the ex is advertised in press - just a name no artists - and starts on Monday
I did want to get them framed though but just could have done with a sale first. still - maybe something else will come up for them, maybe this cloud will have the promised silver lining and one of them - the seascape - its the joyce ortner one i did Sue - is for us anyway and looks much better in a frame.
haircut and colour today so i don't go to Geneva in my usual messy state...
