Kos pleased to hear this.
Children have their own lives that they will lead in time,
you need your own life, and with an open door for whenever they feel the need to touch base, and seeing you both happy, will make it a much pleasanter experiance when they do come calling.

It can't have been easy and as you say there may be more to come, but I'm all for living each day to the maximum. Good luck!

excellent news - the situation with your kids won't seem so isolating when you've got rob there to hand instead of miles away. and maybe as time is passing they're getting more accepting even if outward they're not ready top accept it.
anyway - we only have one life so we have to enjoy it - you've tried for others and i'm sure will still try but you need to try for yourselves too.

Yep me too, all for living in the moment

The way I see it, your ex has the choice of either living in the past, remaining a martyr and making his own life and that of your sons utterly miserable OR, embracing the changes, sharing the responsibility and the cost of rearing the boys with you and therefore making his own life better as he will at least then have the opportunity to meet someone else and move on.
It all hinges on that last line....I know! (my) Rob's ex took years to get to that point but we just got on with our lives
Good luck!

thanks again...yep, i'm sure he will turn this into another 'obstacle' but frankly it's one thing after another and I cant do right for wrong anyway so what the hell! and it will make it easier to bear with Rob to share it with, united front and all that

I'm happy for him to play the martyr.... To who? Crowd of zero. And aren't martyr's supposed to be the one's who suffered all the abuse and not the other way round? Listen carefully... Here's the world's smallest violin playing for one second for an abusive Narcissist. Show's over folks...

was having song rivalry with daz yesterday - i dredged up " a baby sardine, saw her first submarine, she was scared as she looked through the people, oh come come come, call the sardines mum, its only a tin full of people" he won though .. his was ( think spice girls tune) " if you wanna be my lover, sex is fifty p, condoms two pounds fifty, buy one get one free" and of course he did actions too...
should be having chris and kids today but not sure now - he thinks nathan got chicken pox, but his flat mate doesn't want them there tonight anyway which is why they were coming so not sure whats happening now. looks like he got to drag poor kid here - 30 mile journey - i wish he could get rehoused - seems council will rehouse everyone but not him - they said as he's working he can support himself - but he can't afford market rents here ( after csa he has about 700 left from his salary - rents alone here are 500 - 600 and they want deposits of around 1500. chances of him getting that are like flying to the moon.. and not helped by his - hopefully in past - thinking poker will solve his finances! ) and.. his credit rating is crap - he lurches from month to month on a crisis, even affording his room rent in a flat above a pub is a struggle and its not the greatest place for him to have kids ...

I feel for him Jeannie...its a catch 22 situation....i only work part time and still get only about £38 from the council towards my rent!! Now if my wonderful mum wasnt helping with that I would be in a B&B somewhere!! And that rubbish when you are trying to have some time with your kids!

the kids are here..nathan not to bad - loads of spots and had his dad up every two hours last night itching - as you say kos - how would that go down in a b&b? he's got to be back for 5 so have to look up train times in a bit - no car seats here and were off the beaten track so its a mile walk down the road, and the kids and him both live op end of city to train station.
been fun seeing them and its was a lovely afternoon - evening so we were outside picking strawberries and raspberries and eating peas from the pod. they enjoyed that! muska has had quite a few extra carrots too

this made me giggle..
http://www.teachyourselfart.co.uk/ schoolgirl humour again i wonder if people really look at what their website name looks like to others. its similar to a house in town Farthingloe - always made me smile when i passed that one on my way to school.

no visitors ( kids etc) today - i think.....so painting on the agenda. i want to start that one of tan's family and she wants me to do one for the new babys room. she's got some bedding and curtains with a teddy on and so guess what - i've to paint teddies its quite a simple one - mainly sort of outline with patchwork and blue ears - i might do a 6 x 18 in canvas and do three of them in dif positions - she wants it fairly small as its only a partition from daz bedroom. Or i might just do it as A4 watercolour - its sort of that style that suits watercolours i think...i can't get excited about painting teddies though so think that i'll just get that one over and done with.

i did start on the one of tan fam - hit a prob straight away when i'd scaled it up and traced the outlines just to get features right i used charcoal - i went over it in pencil and wiped off what i could but... my first layer is picking it all up so what was just 1st layer for tones is a murky grey everywhere - i've just blocked in roughly ensuring that (hopefully) i've now sealed in the charcoal and next layers will be clear of it, i can still see through the paint to facial features as it was quite dilute so hope today goes better.
i found an old canvas 8 x 10 that i don't like the work anymore 9 got a few of thosefrom early days) so i've painted a couple of coats of white over it to use that - decided one teddy was more than enough - can't face doing three of them!!

its dull here today - not rain but cool and dreary - typical cos its first day of local carnival with beach stuff going on i've not been for years but used to go with kids. too many people now as i have to park somewhere fairly close and the only way to do that it to go hours early - i'd rather be at home.
The older i get the more of a recluse i become - meet Sylvie on mon for breakfast and many weeks i don't leave here til i meet here the next week. my friend linda calls on mon and thurs pm and the kids are always dropping by plus there's sarah on most tues and another friend who calls to borrow books every couple of weeks so i don't lack company. i'm happy left to myself, esp here where there's always something to do in garden and i've my collection of books - and with pc to order stuff why go out? - my dad hated being alone and was happiest once he moved into sheltered housing where he had his own flat but there were communal areas and always someone around to talk to - I'd hate that. strange how we all differ- good job though or the hot spots would be very crowded.
charles would like to live in centre of town by the sea ideally, he likes people to chat to but is happy being at home too - good job. in fact its strange but in many ways we are complete opposites - don't share hobbies but respect each others time and space. gives us lots to talk about and maybe thats part of staying married so long?

My dad would hate that too Jeannie, we are just off to his place now for a few days. He's having his first cataract operation tomorrow morning and I'm going along to make sure he doesn't try to drive home afterwards!
I'll stay with him for a couple of days to keep death off the roads too
No internet there so I'll be walking on the beach with the pugs a lot and maybe sketching.
Rob is going on to Wales with work but we'll meet up on Wednesday again and go out for a meal with dad.
It's our 7th wedding anniversary today, three years of living together before that makes 10 in total! Wow, where did the time go?
Have a good week all

I was up in Sheringham today at the smallholders event. I saw lots of livestock and I will post some pics later when I have resized them. What a great day I had, £5 to get in and there was enough to keep me and my friend Lorraine happy for several hours, including a hog roast roll for lunch.

Back to work tomorrow after having had 3 weeks off.

It was lovely being with Garry for most of that time and when he went back to work I missed him (I dont usually!). I did some paintings and I have come to a decision that I must make an effort to sell some, I keep saying this but this time I mean it because they are taking up valuable space in our small bungalow and I could do with some money (if they sell that is).

during our holiday (at home and at friends, we couldnt afford a proper holiday this year) Garry eneded up in casualty, they thought he had kidney stones and he was in so much pain, he is never ill, he hasnt had a day off sick for decades! the doc thinks it wasnt kidney stone but a spasm of his back muscles. I have had blood tests because my doctor thinks I might have GOUT! my big toe is really painful at times and it is stopping me from having long walks or if I do I will pay for it overnight.

I think going back to work will be a rest for me.

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

Gout Lois? how weird....charles used to get it and it was really painful - of course kids always tripped over that foot! since he was diagnosed with diabetes though 15 years ago he's hardly evr had it and if he does its very slight. he hasn't changed his lifestyle ( i tried - i did try!) so it must be something in the tablets he takes.
poor gary - sounds like you've both had a stressful time. hope you're both ok.
didn't know there was anything on in sheringham - smallholding event sounds one i would like - i would have gone to that :o( must read papers more thoroughly - i don't buy them but scan them online and you miss ads and stuff that way but it saves money! we used to get two a day and with weekend ones its a good tenner a week saved.

hows the bees doing? i was watching bees yesterday on my lavenders and there were a couple of odd insects, bit like bees but bigger with a sort of pinkt bum and very very rapid wing beats - they were quite quick so it was difficult to see. i snapped some with my phone but i haven't yet worked out how to get it on to pc - have to download a programme i thing. anyone else with an lg viewty lite who knows? cos there's quite a few in my phone now!! jay wasn't impressed at the clarity when he looked at the display when i first got it - then i noticed there was a peel off film on the lens

selling artworks - i must push that more too - a little extra would be nice wouldn't it..but i had the adding them to pc bit and promoting my site so its my fault i don't sell more. Ros ABA site has sold for me even with my dire promotion and has worked well for those who've worked at it - worth a look. "real" exhibitions in the way peter has are good - i think many people still need to see a work in the flesh before buying but either you DIY as peter has - which is a hell of a lot of hard work - or you pay £££ for some space somewhere and hope you get it back in sales - getting into other galleries where they take commission is very tough and i think you need a hard shell yo take the inevitable rejections. Charles always thinks i should paint more of what i do well which he says is animals and the figurative ladies which i've not done for aaaggges and then i'd hone and perfect them instead of just painting what i feel like - but i want to enjoy painting and not feel its a chore. he has a point though i'll admit its just that there's not enough time ( energy in my case) to do both so i end up dong what i want instead of what i know i should. Got two fab books from search press this week, one on watercolour and light - just the way i love watercolour, very loose and free and the other is really interesting - all about fabrics in art - dying them, screen printing ect - something i've never understood is screen printing but finally got it after last night read. trouble is now this book has set me up to have a go at ANOTHER new outlet - instead of practising what i can do but i just love to experiment. I keep meaning to do more ladies becuase i enjoy them - i'd like to do some ala beryl cook - love her works - but then other things get in the way.
