LOL Sue, that would sure make them stop in their tracks

They are nice lads, everytime they come across a worm when digging the footings they throw it over to the robin and our old back door is off to allotments in West Yorkshire where they give them to the old guys who are building shelters.

they sound nice lads - i like the idea of recycling the door - nowadays most people just chuck everything in a skip - such a shame when much could be reused somewhere.

your sunroom doesn't look anywhere near as skany as our old conservatory did - flat leaking roof, windows and door of wood that had rotted. and the feral tom cat used to use the broken cat flat to sneak in and pee over my "outside" wheel chair once - its why it now has a back of a bit of fabric i sewed on cos i could not get the smell out and had to cut it off...we did put on a new flat to try to keep him out but milo broke it poking his head through about 2 days after. at 18 quid a time it didn't get replaced.
no sarah today as cameron her eldest isn't well. i'd eyemarked some areas where we need to weed where i can't get - the slope by the pond, the bit behind a small box hedge in front garden ( whose daft idea was it to plant a box hedge just because she had one years ago forgot i had two legs then and could get over it to weed. still it doea look nice)

I can't stop thinking about tans friend with leukaemia ( see white light) one minute you're bouncing along full of life and then something likes this knocks you - poor family, i hope so much all goes well for her.

tan has her 20 week scan last week, text me "good news cyst gone" ( she has an ovarian cyst 11.5 x 9.5 x 10 cm ) she had it with beth but on her last scan they said they couldn't see it so must have gone - they did say they couldn't see her ovaries either but clearly they were still there cos she got pregnant again. anyway 5 ins later text no 2 " cyst not gone " - consultant has asked her what scanner said as there was nothing on notes about cyst or ovaries. tan said it was gone - scanner couldn't see it. he goes for a word with her and comes back - she couldn't see cyst or ovaries again but he says a cyst that size won't go on its own and why on earth didnt she get it removed after beths birth. she explains no-one said it'd be a problem so thought it ok not to do anything. anyway he says she can't leave it as it can twist, burst or very remote poss turn cancerous so if it doesn't cause probs with pregnancy and need to be removed before she has to go in about 2-3 months after to have it out. she's not looking forward to that - i'm just worried it might get in the way of the baby being so big. she's to have further scans at 36 and 40 weeks to check - i'd guess thats one thing they want to see - if its between baby and exit.

Blimey Jeannie-what were the doctors thinking about not getting the cyst removed once they knew it was there? My daughter had one when she was a 18--it grew quickly and twisted on its self-while she was waiting to see the surgeon. It was one of those horrible ones with teeth , hair etc!
I wouldnt think there would be much room inside for Tans to move and twist if she is pregnant, so fingers crossed for her.
They removed Becki's and managed to save her ovary, it grew to size of rugby ball in a few weeks--I was soo annoyed with our GP at time cos she had been going to docs for nearly 3 years with heavy periods and they kept saying it was her age.never examined her!

I will keep fingers crossed that Tan's cyst stays out of baby's way but best to get that out asap I would think.
Yes docs are really lax over gynae matters in my opinion. I suffered extremely heavy periods for years before we realised why. Doc even re-prescribed the pill to ease them off at one point...how stupid was that with hindsight!
Finally lady GP decided it was fibroids and the rest is history.
Moral of the tale is do not be fobbed off!!

just been speaking to one of my FB friends-she has just been diagnoised with cancer-they thought it was cervical cancer but now they said its adenocarcinoma of the womb? She said it was in her glands-she starts radiothepy next week followed by chemo and then radical hystrectomy. She is prfoundly deaf and has a young daughter, no close family aroung her but lots of friends.

lorna - exactly - my gp was treating me for arthritis - in one knee at age 32... four years later when my leg kept giving way he finally agreed i could see a specialist wo did one simple xray that showed no arthritis there but a tumour - massive tumour. all it would have taken was one xray - just one little xray and i'd still have my leg. i accepted gp knew best - now i question everything and tell kids and freinds to as well - at the end of the day its our bodies and us that suffer - my old gp was asked to retire early by the practice - he was swanning round on enhanced pension etc while i was raising family on income support because i lost my job and our business went bust as charles spent most of 6 months with me in hospital.

Di - (((hug)) for you and friend and i'll send some thoughts her way - and tell her to take note of mine and lornas experience and question everything. also - if she can get on a ny clinical trials they offer best chance of long term recovery because of the constant monitoring and follow ups.

Jeannie, we've been admiring those water lilies you sent me for the past few days now - beautiful flowers. We split the tuber into 2 pots so we've got them top and bottom end of the pond. Thanks so much for these.

excellent sue - were they white ones? m6y red one i bought about 5years ago has been beautiful this year - i'll see if i can get a piece off if its big enough - if not then next year - thats always in gardening that phrase " next year we will...."
next year i will weedkiller underneath the weed membrane before planting out my veg!! thought it'd be easier to plant through membrane for sweetcorn, peas and beans and some winter veg like broccoli etc - weeding is one of the difficult bits for me - i can do edges but middle of bed? no chance. we use a no dig system and don't walk on beds if poss so they are xxx long by about 4-5 ft wide then we can reach from edges- i just stick load more manure ( good old muska) whenever they are empty and over winter for the summer veg. where we've done that for 6 or so years the soil is fantastic - i dug potatoes out with a little trowel its so easy. but didn't weedkiller and so weeds are pushing up the membrane where sweetcorn is!!

Here's yours Jeannie. Wow - you can get red ones !!! Bet they look stunning. We have soft pink and yellow (plus yours) - the yellow one is just about to come out too.

Just planted out the most beautiful rose. The smell is so strong. I've put it the other side (the garden side) of my patio wall and I can smell it as I sit and drink my coffee. It was a total surprise. There I was teaching away and the most enormous box was delivered. As soon as my student saw the box she recognised the name immediately. (She's an avid gardner). I recently done a portrait commission for a customer which she presented to her husband for a father's day present. She sent me the rose as an extra thankyou. Isn't that nice?

David Austin Roses Limited. The packaging is very 'Harrods' My student was telling me all about the company and how they have a brilliant reputation re. roses and how they are reknowned for the old traditional English fragrant roses. If she hadn't been here when the package arrived I would have thought it was just a normal everyday run of the mill plant.

All of this week we have been smelling cat pee around the back of the house. At first I thought that our cat Sidney might have come over from Anne's next door where he lives now, whilst we were on holiday and taken advantage while the dogs were gone to spray the door etc as marking. He's not done it before but it was the only explanation we could come up with. Trouble was, the smell appeared to come and go.

Then my daughter was on the phone the other night asking me if a cat sprays on your door, could the smell just vanish by next morning?
Well obviously the answer was no so we appear to have the same problem despite her being in Essex and me in Yorkshire

We investigated and Rob, clever chappie tracked it down to the elderflower bushes at the bottom of the garden. It is their pollen!!!
Oh dear, I bought elderflower bushes for my other daughter, in Wales, to help start her off in her new big garden. She's going to hate me in a year or two LoL
